Composer
Composer, which Cursor shipped on October 29, 2025 alongside Cursor 2.0, is Cursor's first in-house coding model, built for fast agentic coding inside the editor.
Model: Composer (
composer-1)Maker: Cursor
Ship date: October 29, 2025
Pricing: $1.25 / $10 per M tokens
Context: 200K tokens
Where you can use it:
Cursor 2.0 and later, in Agent
Cursor's new multi-agent interface
When to reach for it:
Quick, back-and-forth agent edits
Finding your way around big codebases
Skip it for the hardest problems
How it compares:
Much faster than GPT-5 or Claude Sonnet 4.5
Trails both on Cursor's own benchmark
What makes it different:
Trained with RL inside Cursor's own tools
Built so most turns finish in seconds
Early reactions: Testers liked the speed, but Cursor wouldn't say whether it had built Composer on top of an open-weights model.

The benchmarks
Cursor printed no exact scores at launch, only unlabeled bar charts on its internal Cursor Bench, where it said its "Best Frontier" class (GPT-5 and Claude Sonnet 4.5) outscored Composer; the scores below were published in March 2026, in Cursor's Composer 2 post and technical report, run in Cursor's own harness on a newer CursorBench, with no rivals from Composer's launch period.
Cursor's numbers
CursorBench (Cursor's internal coding eval, v3): 38.0%.
Terminal-Bench 2.0 (command-line agent tasks): 40.0%.
SWE-bench Multilingual (GitHub fixes, many languages): 56.9%.
